  • Professor Jieping Zhu Visited Our Lab

Prof. Jieping Zhu, from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), paid a visit in Wuhan University during March 13-15, 2019, and was invited to give us an excellent reports entitled with “Interplay between natural product synthesis and development of synthetic methodology”. In the report, professor Zhu detailed introduction of the recent advance of their research group in the total synthesis of natural indole alkaloids. After the seminar, Prof. Wangqing Kong and students had a kind discussion with Prof. Jieping Zhu.

    Jieping Zhu

Jieping Zhu received his BSc in 1984 from Hangzhou Normal University, MSc in 1987 from Lanzhou University under the guidance of Professor Li Yulin, Ph.D. degree in 1991 from University Paris XI, France under the supervision of Professor H.-P. Husson and Pr. J. C. Quirion. After a post-doctoral stay with Professor Sir D. H. R. Barton at Texas A & M University in USA, he joined the “Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles”, CNRS, France as Chargé de Recherche and was promoted to Director of Research 2nd class in 2000 and then 1st class in 2006. He moved to Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne), Switzerland in September 2010 as a full professor. His group is involved in the development of novel synthetic methods, their application in natural product synthesis, the design of novel multicomponent reactions and development of catalytic enantioselective transformations.
